Poetry Open Mike

Dear Families,
As part of our writing curriculum we studied the work of Cynthia Rylant.  She is a prolific writer who has published texts in a variety of genres.  We carefully looked at her craft and borrowed many of her writing techniques to better our own writing.  The children learned how to utilize ellipses, the power of 3, connecting ands, circular text, personification, metaphors, similes, personification, and alliteration.  The children published narrative poems and celebrated with an Open Mike Afternoon!

Tuck Everlasting

Dear Families,
As a culminating project for our read aloud, Tuck Everlasting the children created bottles that possessed a secret power. We had a wonderful time coming up with creative powers and finding images that expressed those powers.  Ask your child to tell you all about it!
